Smart, Safe Schools

Welcome back students, parents, and guardians to a new school year!! My name is Bill Peck and I am your students’ Physical Education Teacher. I have been teaching for 17 years. You may Carver PEcontact me through the school phone number or through my school email listed at the bottom of the page.
Carver’s Physical Education program is designed to help each student to become as healthy and as physically fit as they are able.  My goal is give every student the tools that they need to become and stay physically fit for their lifetime.
In order to keep the CARVER gym safe, I have established 4 simple rules for all grades to abide by.
  1. Wear tennis shoes and play clothes. All students must wear PROPERLY LACED tennis shoes to participate in Physical Education.  Girls are REQUIRED to wear shorts or leggings underneath their skirts to participate in Physical Education.
  2. Choose your attitude. (Students are expected to come in with an open mind towards new activities and a positive attitude.)
  3. Keep yourself to yourself. (This is my way of saying keep your hands, feet, equipment, and words to yourself.)
  4. No talking while the teacher is instructing. This rule is CRITICAL to ensure your child’s safety, as they may miss CRITICAL SAFETY instructions.

Hey parents. Check out an app called "Fooducate". Once downloaded, it utilizes QR code scanning technology to allow students OR parents the ability to scan barcodes of labelled food using their smartphones. The reading provides a nutritional breakdown, a letter grade of A-D for health benefits, as well as, any recommendations for healthier substitutions. This empowers families to be able to make healthier food choices.

Another awesome app I found is called "Kurbo". This app questions students about their goals, interests, and hobbies, and then partners them with a personal coach that meets with them via email, text, or phone. The coach mentors the students, and assists in the creation of a plan that helps the students make incremental changes weekly to create a healthier lifestyle. The students are able to track their exercise and list the food they eat while playing fun games.
